Skincare Favorites of 2017!

4:16 AM

I have quite a lineup of my favorites with stories of how they've helped and changed my routine. I want to open with a disclosure that I am in my mid-thirties with combination skin and no acne issues. What works for me may not work for you but in my experience, it's always a benefit to hear from others about what they like. In my life, it has helped me make a more informed decision and I hope it will help you!

There are so many skincare products in the market, so many that it can be truly overwhelming. When making decisions for my skin I consider 3 main things:

- Ingredient Source
I care a lot about where the company gets the ingredients and how. I also care if they test on animals.

- Ingredient Efficacy
I like to know how strong and how pure the product is.

- Any Added Ineffective Ingredients
Things like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, smells and colors can affect the skin.

In the end, it's best to know what you care about and make it a priority for your skin.

And with that said... here we go!

Products - I have quite a solid list of products that I've recently transitioned to using that have completely changed my skin. When I first moved to Dubai, my skin freaked out and developed all sorts of curious redness, blemish issues and overall loss of glow. Today, my skincare routine is what I have found to keep my skin balanced.

1. 1st CLEANSE (Makeup Removal)
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm with Cleansing Cloth (100g) £39.00

Though dermatologists agree that over-washing can lead to irritation and a lack of moisture, when I have a layer of makeup on my face, I use a 2-step process in the evenings. Emma Hardie's cleansing balm is the bomb. It removes my makeup with ease and leaves my skin feeling smooth without causing dryness.

2. 2nd CLEANSE

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser (4oz) $32.00

With a light fruit scent, this cleanser is lovely and light without drying my skin.

Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner (120mL) $32
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution (240mL) $8.70

These two toners are my best friends. I first started on the CoQ-10 as it has anti-aging properties but then I came across The Ordinary (which I had ordered for my husband) and am loving it too. For now, I stick to the CoQ-10 but when I run out, I have no issues using The Ordinary.

4. ACID - Lactic
Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment (1oz-1.7oz) $105.00 - $158.00

For some reason, this is a controversial product, as most people look right at the price and not the active ingredients and efficacy, not to mention, for some reason, people don't like the smell. For me, I LOVE it! Skincare is different for everyone so it is best for you to try a small sample beforehand.

5. ACID - Hyaluronic
NOID Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Treatment (0.5oz - 1oz) $35.00 - $60.00

Before the NOID, I used The Ordinary. As they're both from the same company, I chose to take the next step up in quality of ingredients.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum (1oz/30mL) $80.00

I first purchased Sunday Riley's Vitamin C moisturizer and I couldn't handle how strong the tingles were, though I loved the scent. I've since moved on to Drunk Elephant. It did last quite longer and is a thin, serum like product which I find works best for my skin.

DAY - Vintner's Daughter (30mL) $185.00

Another hit to the wallet, which I totally understand. I first purchased this after doing hours and hours of research looking for a quality oil with well-sourced cold-pressed ingredients. Upon discovering this was created by a woman who wanted an oil she could use while pregnant was just a bonus. Anyhow, I couldn't be more happy with what this has done for my skin and that is the true test.

NIGHT - Caudalie Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Night Oil (1oz / 30mL) $50.00

9. MOISTURIZE - Lotion
NIGHT - Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb (100mL / 3.38fl.oz.) $62.00

This is a combo I do in the evening. Combining these two moisturizing products together and applying them all over my skin before I hit the sheets has become a transforming combo for the dry air of Dubai.

Tools - Skincare tools are the assistants to the main show, which could never live up to their greatest potential without them! I don't have a lot of fancy tools but what I use helps my products be the best they can be.

Face Halo (3-pack) $22.00

I use the Face Halo in combination with Step 1's Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm to remove my makeup. They're washable, work very well and are so very soft.

Emma Hardie Cleansing Cloths (3-pack) £12

Instead of using a traditional face cloth from Target or HomeSmart, these cleansing cloths are made of naturally exfoliating muslin and feel really soft on my skin.

Nurse Jamie Uplift Massaging Beauty Roller $69

This is so amazing! Yes, this is a celebrity-endorsed product but after I bought it and tried it, I am really happy with the results. Plus, as long as you take care of it, you'll only need to buy it once! What? Amazing!

Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System $169

The Clarisonic brand has been around for over 15 years and has many different sonic brushes and brush-heads, primarily used with your facial cleanser to improve the its efficacy. Depending on the head you use, it can help with product absorption and produce softer and more radiant skin.
