Oscars 2016 Red Carpet Moments

2:09 AM

From A-List starts to Red Carpet Noobies, this year's Oscars Red Carpet was sprinkled with fashion and flare. I may be the optimist or perhaps just a lover of sparkle and lights, but the faux-pas were few and far between. Honestly, it's hard to judge, as it is quite a subjective thing, but as a firm staple, I look for complementary color, overall design, styling and fit.

As a side, I must point out that I am so very happy to see Leonardo DiCaprio win with Best Actor, as he has not only been nominated six times, he has had a career littered with outstanding, award-winning performances.  And while I'm on the side, for a movie like Mad Max to truly get the accolades it deserves is rather a shocked but well observed by the Academy.

Okay then... lets get these red carpet looks going!

My Favorites...

Okay, so I'm obviously on a certain track... black... lace overlay for the ladies and classic, sharp looks for the men. And yes... I chose Award Winners but honestly, these looks are stunning, classic and completely my style.

Not Black...

Sure, black is classic but these lovely looks are quite close... but better. Rich in color, lovely in design and stunning fit, these four winners are my favorite "dark" looks on the red carpet.
Brie Larson in Gucci | Reece Witherspoon in Oscar de le Renta | Sophia Vergara in Marchesa and Lorraine Schwartz | Patricia Arquette in Marina Rinaldi.

Off White...

From lace overlays to geometric structure to intricate beadwork, these off white looks are pure stunning.
Roony Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture by Ricardo Rischi | Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell | Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad | Maria Menounos in Christian Siriano.

Unconventional Winners...

These looks may not be "traditional" oscars looks... to be honest, Margot looks like she's trying to be an Oscar, but these four ladies make a dress, that perhaps, if it was on any other lady could possibly fail, unconventionally sing.
Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive, Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Roger Vivier jewelry | Margot Robbie in Tom Ford and Forevermark jewelry | Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton | Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa.

Missed the Mark...

Though these actresses are stunning and talented, their looks just missed the mark. From the fit to the color to the general styling, sometimes its just not a winner.

Kate Winslet in Ralph Lauren | Ilsa Fisher in Marchesa | Sophie Turner in Galvan and Tiffany & Co. jewelry | Jennifer Jason Leigh in Marchesa.

When it comes to couples, I believe complementary style is the best point of reference. The cool kids on the block: Charlotte and Tom take classic looks and add "cool" accessories. Matt and Luciana are the classic looks that everyone should envy. Sylvester and Jennifer are the sexy, young couple that take tradition and give it a sexy flare with very and silk with a high slit.
Tom Hardy and wife Charlotte Riley | Matt Damon with wife Luciana Barroso in Versace | Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer Flavin in Saint Laurent.
